Dating in 2025: Love, Lies, and the Algorithm

Welcome to dating in 2025 where the rules are made up, the vibes are confusing, and the red flags come with good lighting.

Let’s be real. Ghosting isn’t ghosting anymore 🫠 it’s “emotional detox.” And if someone says they need “space,” that’s just code for texting their ex again while liking your Instagram story to keep you emotionally hostage.

We’re in the era of PR-approved situationships. Soft launches on social, no hard commitments IRL. You’ll spend three months in someone’s DMs, maybe grab a drink once, and then never speak again — unless they resurface during Mercury retrograde.

The language of love? Memes.

Affection? A flame emoji response to your thirst trap.

Commitment? “Let’s see where this goes.” (It’s not going anywhere.)

And yet… we’re still out here swiping, hoping someone’s Hinge prompt isn’t a straight-up lie and their playlist doesn’t scream emotional unavailability.

Here’s the tea:

Love isn’t dead — it’s just stuck in the algorithm. And dating? It’s not for the weak. It’s for the delusional, the hopeful, and the very, very patient.

So if you’re tired of being ghosted, benched, or “soft loved” — you’re not alone. Welcome to the club. We meet every Sunday to analyze texts and pretend we’re fine.
